What Trade Forge Prep is

Trade Forge Prep is a study site for the California Law & Business and General Building (B) contractor license exams: study guides, practice questions, job scenarios, and timed practice exams.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Contractors State License Board. CSLB writes and runs the exams and publishes its own study materials. Nothing on this site is published by CSLB or speaks for it.

What we do not promise

We do not promise that you will pass any exam, or any particular score. How you do depends on you, on how you prepare, and on the exam itself, which we do not control. There is no pass guarantee.

Our material explains laws, regulations, and building codes and cites the source for each rule. It is study material, not legal, safety, or professional advice. Laws and codes change, and CSLB can change the exam at any time. Check the official sources before you rely on a rule on a job, and contact us if you think something is wrong so we can fix it.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy.
• Your email address is your account. We sign you in by sending a link to it, so keep your email account secure and do not forward sign-in links.
• Your account is for you. Do not share it, sell it, or let others use your access.
• Give us an email address you control. Purchases are attached to the address used at checkout.

Free use and full access

Part of the site is free to use without paying. Full access is a one-time purchase that covers both exams. It is not a subscription: nothing renews, and you are never charged again for it.

Full access lasts 18 months from the day you buy. If it takes you more than one attempt at an exam in that time, you keep everything and there is nothing to buy a second time. What full access includes is described on our homepage at the time you buy. We may improve, update, or reorganize the content during your access, but we will not remove the exams or the kinds of material you paid for during that time.

Payment and refunds

• Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number.
• We may offer promotion codes or free access to some people, such as early users. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and may be limited or withdrawn.
• Because full access is available the moment you buy, purchases are generally non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund. If you were charged in error, charged twice, or cannot reach what you paid for, email hello@tradeforgeprep.com within 30 days and we will make it right.

Using the site fairly

You agree not to:

• copy, publish, sell, or share our questions, explanations, study guides, or scenarios;
• use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access or collect content from the site;
• try to get around access limits, or reach answers or content your account does not include;
• interfere with the site’s security or operation, or use it to break the law.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

Our content

The laws, regulations, and codes we cite belong to their publishers and the public. Our questions, explanations, study guides, scenarios, and the way we organize them are ours, and we give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own exam preparation while you have access.

Links to other sites

We link to CSLB, statutes, and code publishers so you can check our sources. We are not responsible for those sites or their content.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

The site is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties that are not stated in these terms, including that the site will be error-free or always available.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost income or a missed exam date, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. Before bringing a claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you by email or on the site before a material change takes effect. A change never takes away access you have already paid for.
